Hey There...

If you are like me, learning more about dyslexia and structured literacy is causing a great deal of guilt. Like you, I am a dedicated teacher who studied primary education to better the lives of my students. Graduating from a top Canadian university in 2015, I was blissfully unaware of the shortcomings regarding balanced literacy. In fact, I had never heard the term structured literacy, until my son was diagnosed with severe dyslexia at the age of 8. His story mimics those of the children in the Ontario Human Rights Commission, this website, and the first hand accounts of dyslexic students around the world.

Like me, YOU are a product of the system entrusted with training us. A system that is broken when it comes to literacy instruction. A change is coming, the dyslexia movement is at a boiling point, but systematic change is complicated and slow.

In the meantime - below are some recourses, tools, and training sites to familiarize yourself with structured literacy.

THANK YOU for taking the time to consult this website.
